Malvarma Dusi V

This weekend was a less expensive one, coz I travelled within Austria, to Weyregg am Attersee (what a cute name right?) with Arno. Flying Circus was supposed to send a team, but unfortunately we didn’t have enough people, so the spot was given to the Innsiders, and coz they were missing people, me and Arno went along for the fun. 1st day, 4 games, which we lost all, 2nd day was 2 games, which we won the final one, on a universal point. Which was totally awesome! We were all so so happy when we got that final score.

Personally, I think all that money spent on tournaments is totally worth it. I think I am improving. I hope I am, and I hope I continue to improve. I know for one I need to learn how to work against a zone. And playing with different teams all the time always brings something different. For the Innsiders, they still have so much to grow and learn, I am sure in 4-5 years they will be the top team in Austria, once Wolfi and the other boys gains more centimeters and the girls get more confidence.

Some of the highlights of the weekend. 1st, walking into the campsite, saw these little kids openly smoking. Not cigarettes, but shisha. And not one water pipe, but many water pipes. Like practically every team who had a under 19 kid, had a water pipe. And so, it was like dark, at 9pm, and these little punks, aged between 14-19, huddled around water pipes smoking away. Dodgy aeh?

2nd highlight was when we went to the supermarket to get food. I thought it was just well, we are gonna get cold cuts and semmels. But no, these underaged kids went straight to the beer section (the beer section was before the cold cuts section) and got for themselves not 1 but 2 cartons of beer. It means 24 cans of beer. And thats a lot of beer for a team where half the people are not legally allowed to drink. And what more, the cashier just let them buy the beer happily. Of course, walking back with all that beer, the kids were not met with disapproval but smiling faces. This only happens in Austria!

Camping was rather bad unfortunately, due to the cold weather (it was like 7 degs!). I was freezing away, coz I was adamant that its June, and summer is here, so I failed to bring my usual, which was my thicker jacket, and my very highly warm fleece blanket. And also didn’t bring any beanie with me, which was a big big crime. I slept really badly in the tent the 1st night, partially coz of the hardness of the ground, it was giving my hip problems. And 2nd night, I had enough, and asked Arno if I could sleep in the car, and that was a LOT better, not only very much warmer, but also quieter, and more comfortable. I don’t think I will ever get used to the camping, not at least my hip gets better and stops giving me problems all the time. I need to watch out for my knee too, coz somehow, my right knee, median side, feels a bit strained. Should take tomorrow to have a good rest. Almost sprained my ankle during a point too, but didn’t! So I am happy nothing is breaking down yet.

And so results. We got 7th out of 8th, which is good, we didn’t come in last! There was also a double disc court competition, and David and Thomas won that! And hurray for the Innsiders, nabbing the Spirit of the Game award! Last time, we won in Bibione, this time at Malvarma Dusi. I love those little guys. =) Its difficult for them to match up against bigger people and stuff but they keep it a clean fair game, and play their best. So yah! Hurray for the Innsiders. The prize was a lovely goldfish in a jar, and a 12 can pack of beer haha. We took the fish, but left the beer behind. It was way too much for 3 + 1 (underaged) people, the rest had already left earlier on the train. So yah, we didn’t win Ultimate, but we won everything else. What else can you ask for. Oh and one of the most exciting finals I have ever seen, even though the score wasn’t very close. But awesome passes, cool flow, wicked catches, unbelievable bids. It was nice. =)

This was my last tournament with Innsiders. Its sad. The Innsiders are really fun to play with. Sigh. Its time to start to take my leave. And there are already people I missed out. But I do know, I will not be saying Ciao, or Tchüß, or Bye. It will be Auf Wiedersehen, coz I will be back. And I need to remind myself I will make it back. Somehow or another.

We won’t say our goodbyes you know its better that way
We won’t break, we won’t die
It’s just a moment of change
All we are, all we are, is everything that’s right
