Bella Venezia: Part IIIb

26 04 2008

Last evening in Venice.

The weather was just SO awesome. Which means you will see a lot of ’similar’ photos, except that the weather looks a lot more amazing.

Doggies in the baby carriage!

You don’t have to go to Disneyland Paris to see Beauty and the Beast. Just go for Carnival!

Neither do you have to go to Japan, or watch The Last Samurai to see a caucasian man in full samurai armor. I vote this one of the most impressive.

What a delightful and colourful tea party.

British people masquerading as Venetians. They were amazed by all the attention given to them, just coz they were all dressed up. And being British, they were talking loudly in english, mostly about how much attention they got.

Bella! Sunset over the Venetian Lagoon.

There was supposed to be some regetta, but all we saw were these black cloaked, white masked goons rowing an old gondola to and fro in front of Piazza San Marco.

So after dark, it all changes. The programme starts, and surprisingly, all the costumed people leave (And with good reason as we found out later.) And it becomes a big light extravagance at Piazzo San Marco.

So as part of Carnival, they invited this retired reggae band, Pitura Freska, to come perform. And their fans were, well, what else, fanatic. We thought they were interested in the Romanian models who played classical music, but no they were interested in this old bearded guy singing reggae music.

As it can be seen, the crowd was impressive. No wonder all the costumed people left. And just to say, Lizzy and I were squished all the way in front, with the crazy drunk Pitura Freska fans, and we had to fight our way out. But still, I think it was an experience. Never have I been in such a fanatic crowd. Not for a reggae band. Especially for a RETIRED band.
