Okay so I haven’t been very productive in terms of studying. I can be on my computer for a really long time and be not doing work. But seriously, theres just too many things I need to look into and plan. I am disappointed at DB and ÖBB, coz they have officially sold out of tickets to Berlin. Which means I cannot go for the Berlin Ultimate Mitte tournament, unless I can travel with the other Opens team from Austria. Its WAYYYY too expensive for me to go all the way to Berlin. So I am now looking into the alternative, going to Lake Como. At least Italian train tickets never run out. I emailed the organizers today, hoping that I will get a quick reply regarding pickups, but I highly doubt it. I really want to play, coz tournaments, big or small, will help me realize what I can do. Its empowering. So while I wait for the Italians to reply, I just gotta figure out how to purchase my ticket at the Brenner. Troublesome. Hope hope they reply soon, or I guess the prices of tickets will rise as the date approaches.
Also, I got surprised this morning. It was all white outside. Poor flowers and shoots. The frost is gonna kill them all. And really, stop snowing and raining already! We have had enough of that during winter! Its SPRING. Give us some sun and good weather won’t you?
So yah. Tournament planning. Its difficult when you don’t know enough people to get picked up on random teams for random tournaments. Please slacker italians, reply soon yah. If they don’t reply, I guess the only tournaments I would be playing will be Bibione 2008, that should be quite exciting. I am looking forward to that. And the other would be the Austrian Championships. Not too keen on that though. Coz Austria is small fry in terms of Opens and Womens Ultimate. Their Juniors are fantastic, but somehow, the big guys, those with lots of experience, don’t really quite get it.
Which leads me to another thing. Training. Looking at how Flying Circus trains makes me want to explode. (Yes yes, I am a young and angsty juvenile player.) Training is the place where you find out what doesn’t work, and what does. Well, they had plenty of time to find out what doesn’t work. But somehow, what doesn’t work is not corrected until it ‘works’. So basically, all the flaws are exposed during training. But none are corrected. Including bad hucks, bad passes, communication problems. The whole range of things. Training should be good and difficult and tough. After all, training should prepare you for tournaments, so you should be DEAD by the end of training. But nope. People take training too lightly. The austrians very much so.
I think the team is going to do badly at Bibione. I have seen the Ultimate deLux team, and they are sending quite a good side. The Circus? Er. Not the best people we have. Oh wait, 2nd thoughts after seeing the lineup of teams. I think we are gonna DIE.
I don’t mind not winning. But I do mind when we don’t win because of stupid things like lack of training, lack of discipline, lack of preparation, lack of focus.
Oh what am I going to do about Ultimate, now and future. I feel like my progress is hitting a high stall count and I can’t find the next pass to keep the disc moving.
2 papers to write. They were due last semester. Woohoo!
