Einkaufeszentrum

7 09 2007

After one whole week of deliberating of what to get from IKEA, I finally decided, since the weather is finally dry, I should make that trip to the big shopping centre. Its called DEZ, and has everything you ever want aka, Zara, H & M, C & A, Inter-spar, and a lot a lot of other shops. Anyway, I was missing comfy pants, so I went to this shop which I knew sold cheaper stuff and got a 5.99 euro pair of pants, and a 11.99 euro set of sweater and pants. Which I think is quite a good deal. But still, I know my mommy is gonna slaughter me when I finally get back to Singapore 10 months later =P Oh and its snowing in the mountains! Its all white and pretty way up at the top of the mountains! Amazing! And its only autumn….

Anyway, back to the topic. I was quite pleased when I discovered that Austria had a system similar to NETs in Singapore, but its called Mastro or something. Basically you stick your card in, enter your pin and taadah! purchase paid! So simple and so easy. BUT! when I wanted to pay for my clothes, omg suddenly the silly machine told me OH NO! I can’t deduct money. Please remove your card! I was like shit. I don’t have enough cash to cover all that. So what to do, emergency stash of money in the form of my QuikCard (this is like your CashCard in Singapore), and thank goodness I had enough money left in my QuikCard to cover the purchase. So puzzled by this sudden malfunction of my silly card, I went to the Bankautomat (ATM) to see whats going on. And same thing happened. At 2 different Bankautomats, they refused to cough up the Geld, even though I am SURE that I have not reached my weekly limit and I have enough money in my account. I was like WHYYYYYY. On the day which I plan to make major purchases you fail on me? WHYYYYY??? So my lovely shopping trip to IKEA was turning into a budgeting nightmare, coz I had to pay with cash, and I didn’t have enough of that with me. Thus, all I got in the end was those hanging shelves there (new product was on sale!) and a rolly stand to hang clothes (Which I predicted to be 5 euros but it was not available at this IKEA I guess) So somehow, the amount I was planning to spend on hanging stuff ended up being the same. But this silly banking thing is gonna cost me another half a day and another back and fro trip to IKEA again, coz I still have stuff I wanna buy. Bahhhhh.

I feel like an eskimo here. Its so darn cold! And they still haven’t switched on the heating, which I really find torturous, coz really, if you can’t feel warm in your own room, where else can you feel warm? And coz of those days of cycling in the rain I guess, and coz my room is so bloody cold, I have a growing sore throat today. I discovered it after I built my rolly stand, and it has just gotten worst =( It hurts quite a bit now… and I have been drinking lots of water under the advice of kiku. I am gonna sleep early today and hopefully its gone by tomorrow so I can go IKEA and pick up the remaining stuff and also do laundry. The good thing is, if I really get sick, I am insured =)
