School is starting!

Last day of holidays! Omg I so don’t want holidays to end. Sure, lessons might be interesting but I think I am too much of a slacker to enjoy lessons too much haha. Anyway today I cycled all the way to Baggersee, which this really pretty lake. And like after that, back to my hostel, and from there cycled to the other side of Innsbruck for Ultimate training, had training for about 6-8, and then back home again. I don’t know how but they manage to squeeze a lot of stuff and drills and play within the 2 hours. I think time really runs slower here. All in all, I am REALLY tired yah. And tomorrow I need to cycle even more too, coz Technik, which is where most of my lessons are held, is about 2-3km away from my hostel. So yah I should sleep now, coz I need to wake up at I think 7, which is really really early for me roarrrr.My hip is acting up again =( I hope it gets better soon. Really. Or else I can’t play any more frisbee =( 

Ultimate!

Okay Quick one. Today I was bored at first and then, I got this call from Arno, and he said Frisbeespiel in Kundl! And I said ok! So they picked me up at 4 and we went to Kundl. Kundl is a small village. But its a nice place I think. Quaint little houses (okay not little, they are pretty big) and they have a MAY POLE! And the best of all is a super wonderful real grass field with super nice grass. Serious. Singapore grass cannot match up to it. Anyway, it was an amazing game, I feel unfit though. Seriously unfit. And coz of the cold my nose was running again, and also my lungs got the squeezing tight painful feel again. I think I might have exercise-induced asthma. But thats coz I am unfit. I need to go running more. And after that, we went to the local restaurant to have dinner. It was very nice rustic restaurant. And I ate Viennese Goulash with Knodel. Knodel is like dumplings, western style, not your zhong zi. And it was really good. And even though I was like aeh only 2 Knodels and like a few bits of meat, I was REALLY full after eating everything. And like it was Tobias’ birthday, so we had cake too. Super duper full. And on our way back, we passed by this place called Wattens, and there’s a Swaroski museum there. And there were FIREWORKS. And coz like here, the air clears pretty fast, so like the fireworks were so super clear, and they were really pretty and not smoky like in Singapore. Amazing. Tomorrow there is training again =) And on Monday, school is starting, which means I will have my 1st trampoline lesson! Woohoo. Coolness. 

Packet

Finally got my package from my mommy today. Quite glad and happy to get it, even though I had to pay so much. Trying not to brood over the tax thing. But anyway, I love the sweater my mommy made for me. Its like perfect! =) Thanks mommy! <3
I am gonna start getting really busy soon. School is starting. And I have gotten into the habit of procrastination, which is really bad. I need to really DO stuff, like clean up my table, and send emails. I hope I will still have time to blog and record everyday that passes, but I got a feeling I wont be able to. But I will try! One thing for sure, I will miss holidays haha. This was quite fun, holidays from May? until October. But I guess it cancels out coz I will only have a 1 month break before I go back to school in NUS when I return. But still, it was an unforgettable Summer. 

Bah

Scheiße. Heute ich habe etwas angerufen, und ich hatte viel Stress. Die Leute sprechen keine Englisch und ich muss auf Deutsch sprechen und es war sehr schwere. Ich ärgert mich, als ich kenne nicht wie ich kann mich erklären. Und es ist sehr unbillig, weil ich muss sechunddreizig euro bezahlen für mein Packet. Es macht kein Sinn ja? Mit diesem Geld, ich kann das ganze Packet noch mal kaufen. Schrecklich. Ich war sehr unglück, weil ein Packet unter fünfundvierzig euro nicht Zoll bezahlen muss, aber meine Mutter hat nur fünf euro mehr angegeben. Und ich hatte so viel gemacht, aber zu Ende, ich muss bezahlen. ARGH. Scheiße. Ich hasse das. Sehr dumm ja… 

Hai. Ich vermisse mein Heimatland. Es ist nicht perfekt da, aber alle meine Freunden sind da, und ich kenne sie. Alles ist neu here, alles ist fremdartig. Ich weiße nicht, wo kann ich etwas kaufen, oder ich finde es sehr schwere, die Gebäude zu finden. Und die schwedisch Studenten, ich glaube, mag mich nicht. Und das is scheiße. Ich glaube, die junge Österreicher sind sehr gemütlich und freundlich, aber manchemal ich treffe unfreundlich Leute, und sie haben Vorteile gegen weil ich schwarze Häare und Augen habe. Sie denke, dass ich bin dumm und unfreundlich, und ich mag andere Leute nicht. Aber das ist all falsch, ich mag dass nicht, wenn ich allein bin. Und ich bin nicht unfreundlich, nur dass ich habe Angst, und der ander Person muss zuerst mit mir sprechen. Es ist angstrengen, die einzige Chinesin zu bin.

Das ist sehr komisch für mich. Ich kann nur hoffen, dass alles werden besser sein. Hai.

Another rainy day

Its another rainy day. When it rains it really rains. The forecast is for the whole week. Booo. I want warm autumn days with sun and then I can see all the colourful leaves on the trees. I cycled to the Universität Sport Institut today and registered for my classes. 70 Euros and I get to learn 1: Skiing! and 2: Trampoline! Coolness =) I can’t wait to start classes. It will be fun and I will finally get some exercise. They have an amazing range of courses available, but apparently, salsa, climbing (like rock climbing kind and Mount Everest kind) and swimming is really popular. Swimming is amazingly popular, like all the classes are full, and registration only started on Monday. I find that quite unusual, I am glad to stay on dry land. =) 

Anyway, I need to find one of those hair dresser scissors somewhere. Its a bit silly but cutting hair here is probably at exorbitant prices, and I have been getting really bad split ends, like my hair just breaks apart when I comb it, especially at the ends, and its gonna reach my waist if I don’t cut it before I go back to Singapore. So well, I gotta cut my own hair yah, but I need a scissors, not the cut paper kind. And also the fact that conditioner and shampoo happens to be some of the more expensive daily supplies I have to buy. So yah! Need to cut hair soon. 

School is starting next week. I feel really unprepared. Like just appear in the LT? I have NO idea how lessons are like here. It is gonna be interesting.  

Rainy day

The rain has come back again. I realised my mood is pretty much dependent on how cold/rainy the day is haha. But okay today not so bad. Anyway, found something really amusing online =)

Back!

Oktoberfest was a blast. Even before I got to München, you just KNOW that everyone is heading to the same big party. On the train there were people wearing the traditional costumes (Dirndls and Lederhosen) So festive. And I ended up sitting next to this group of 4 girls who were totally dressed up. And like modernised dirndls, aka, sexy versions. Not to mention, they bought one whole BOX of schnapps (which happens to be around 50% alcohol at least) and also they were drinking some kind of beer and stuff all the way. I bet they went to the actual Oktoberfest and drank even more. Its amazing how there were people getting high on drinks in broad daylight. And those enormous 1l jugs. And all the fun fair type rides. Whole families dressed in matching costumes. Enormous bretzels. Grilling points where at least 100 pork knuckles or chickens or sausages are being cooked to perfection. And pork knuckle tastes like 烧肉 by the way. Except less salty and less fat so its actually really nice as sandwich filling. If only they added some tomatoes and lettuce. 

And besides Oktoberfest, my 1st time camping outdoors in such low temperatures. We did a grilling session, with nice handy grill set you can get from the supermarket. Not bad, it actually is like a normal grill. And you can even do marshmallows to perfection. And coz its so small, its really easy to control the fire and stuff. BBQ at its simplest =) We did a chocolate fondue too, and realised that the secret to fondue was to heat all the stuff together and make sure you don’t add cold liquids once the chocolate has melted. But it was still chocolate and we all ate it up with the bananas and strawberries. Then came the part I thought I won’t like, sleeping in the cold outdoors. Surprisingly, I actually felt warmer in the tent than in my room now. Thats how cold my room is haha. I actually found that experience quite nice, besides the creepy spider which was crawling around and I sort of freaked early in the morning coz I spotted it. Thank goodness for the blanket I borrowed and also the 2euro blanket from IKEA acting as neck warmer. Without both I think I would be tons tons colder. 

Amazing birthday experience. Oktoberfest is unique, its so so different from the tiny Oktoberfests we have in SG with one tiny tent. The so called beer tents are actually BUILDINGS. With wood and stone and everything. Its pretty much like WOW. And nothing can replace the cool relief of a ice-cold beer after standing in a queue in the hot sun for 2hrs. I really have to thank Peiyu, Ziming, Siwei, Erwann and CJ for letting me join them and planning everything so nicely and also bringing all the camping equipment. Its really a unique way to see Oktoberfest and my 1st Oktoberfest experience, unforgettable!

And thanx everyone for remembering my birthday, all those facebook msges and emails, and Juliet, I <3 your card! I am probably gonna pin your card onto the wall, and I can’t decide to punch out the Strawberry Shortcake characters and stand them somewhere or just pin the whole thing on the wall. Thanx a lot a lot! I was so so excited to open and read your card today! And a big big big hug to Pammy, who called all the way from Australia to Austria! Pammy I am sorry I had to hang up on you but I <3 you lots lots and I am glad both of us could save money by not talking too long on the phone. We should Skype some day! I totally didn’t expect your call, I thought it was some crazy austrian person who got the wrong number at first. Haha. And really I was totally (but pleasantly) surprised by it!

Excitement

I am all packed. Tomorrow. Oktoberfest!

4:00am: Wake up
5:00am: Finish washup and prepare breakfast. 
5.30am: Ride my bicycle to train station
6:00am: Go to the supermarket and get sandwich for the trip
6.38am: Train departs for München
8:30am: Arrival in München, visit tourism office at train station 
9:02am: Meet NUS people at train station and walk to camping place and set up tent eg.
10+am: Watch opening parade of Oktoberfest

Der Inn

I lost my hairband to the mighty Inn river today. Didn’t realise it was gone, until I heard the soft clink of it hitting against the wall, and then looking down, it was merrily bobbing up and down, floating down the Inn. And now its probably somewhere along the Danube and destined for the big blue ocean. At least it was the purple one and not the pink or green one. And I spotted some of the frisbee ppl throwing while i was cycling up and down the Inn… So I had a lovely 20mins throwing =) That is how small Innsbruck is. You can just randomly bump into people =) Especially when the weather is nice and you KNOW that they will be either next to the river or somewhere where there is loads of sun to soak up.  And I also should be going for the ÖM Mixed Meisterschaft. Which is gonna be OH SO EXCITING! I really think, the more I play the more I will improve, especially if I play against new people all the time. And I do hope that, even though I won’t get to play so much here, I will still improve coz I will be getting a lot more exposure playing with all sorts of different people. I need to pack for Oktoberfest. And I need to start running again when I come back from Oktoberfest. I am so so unfit, with lots of Nutella eaten.  

Rush hour

Today was such a hectic day! And all because I have no functional ATM card. I bet guy at bank must think I am crazy, coz I keep withdrawing large sums of money, like 80 euros on Monday, and then 100 euros today. Its not my fault that everything in Austria is so bloody expensive, and I need extra things coz its gonna start getting colddddd. I was almost late for my meeting with my tutor, but I am glad I went to talk to him, he has really helped me decide what is best and also suggested many things I could take. Looks like I will have a heavy workload compared to the rest of the students though, coz NUS is such a bad fat ass bully who forces people to do much more than they need to. Things here seem to be much more relaxed, and registration is not like the silly CORs system, a lot is based on whether you can convince the prof that you are the best person for the class. =P But I did realise the ride from my place to Bio fac is quite long, which means, in future I should try to wake up 2hrs earlier just to get to class on time. Something I am not looking forward. Haha.

Anyway, got this at the supermarket today.
